Letter To 2013 Participants:Due to a number of accidents suffered in 2011 when we rode in inclement weather, guidance from our Route
Director, Ken Putnam, and the Winston-Salem Police Department, we felt it was best to cancel this year's ride. We made this
decision for the safety of the riders and our community.
We realize this decision upset some, but hope everyone can appreciate our
motivation and recognize our dependence on the guidance of specialists.
If anyone would like their registration fee refunded,
please contact us.
You can be assured that any resources we collected during the course of planning this event help us pursue our mission "To enhance
the quality of life for those living with cancer and to provide the gift of
life through education".
We are so grateful for the Facebook posts, emails and conversations on ride day that supported us and the difficult decision we made.
We heard from a rider that he was disappointed in our decision, and
our agency, stating "cancer doesn't take time off..." We apologize to anyone
offended by our decision, however, in addition to supporting those facing cancer, we
emphasize prevention of cancer and the importance of making healthy choices. In keeping with these values, we felt this was
an opportunity to make a healthy decision for the riders that we have cared about for nearly a decade.
Sincerely,
Cancer Services, Inc.

It takes courage to face the reality of a cancer diagnosis. While it will never match the fortitude required to battle cancer, we invite you to dig deep, face the frost and hop on your bike to raise money for Cancer Services in Winston-Salem. Don't miss your chance to get great gear and goodies, and get on the road the first day of 2013!
See all you polar bears there.
